In recent years holidays in Morocco have become popular with Britons and it is easy to see why.
The North African nation has beautiful beaches and coastal resorts to rival those you can find in Spain or Portugal, together with fascinating cultural attractions to enjoy. With affordable flights and high-quality accommodation also available, Morocco offers excellent value for money.
If you are unfamiliar with the country, it may be difficult to decide where to look for holiday homes in Morocco, but the areas around Agadir and Marrakesh are generally the most popular with visitors.
Agadir, on the Atlantic coast, is widely regarded as Morocco's leading seaside resort and if you want to do little more than relax in the sun during your break, it is the ideal destination.
It enjoys more than 300 sunny days a year, giving you ample opportunity to work on your tan on the 10 km long sandy beach. The sea is a beautiful deep blue colour and clean enough for swimming and surfing.
Away from the beach, Agadir is known for its Berber heritage and there are lots of historic sites to explore. The best known of them is the remains of the Old Kasbah, which was built in the 1600s but destroyed by an earthquake in 1960. It is well worth strolling up the hill to see the ruined ramparts, as you will enjoy great views over the bay.
You are also sure to be keen to explore the souk in order to pick up some bargains and visit Agadir's fishing port, where you will be able to feast on barbecued fish from the day's catch.
Book a luxurious villa in Morocco close to Marrakesh and you will discover there is plenty to see and do. If Agadir is the place to go for a beach holiday, Marrakesh is the perfect location for a city break with a difference.
The Red City has a rich history and there is lots of evidence of it on show. The Medina, the oldest part of Marrakesh enclosed by a 12th century wall, is the busiest area of the city and is home to beautiful mosques and bustling markets.
But you will also find some tranquil spots in Marrakesh, including the stunning Menara Gardens at the entrance to the Atlas Mountains and the Majorelle Gardens in the grounds of an Art Deco villa that once belonged to Yves Saint Laurent.
Marrakesh is a great base for exploring the foothills of the Atlas Mountains and the Ourika Valley. If you don't want to expend too much energy doing this, you can book a hot air balloon ride over the region, before heading back to the city to enjoy its restaurants, clubs and host of street entertainers.
